He has worked extensively in teaching in Uruguay and has been in charge of Curriculum and Syllabus planning in several institutions. He has been Director of Studies at educational institutions such as the Harwood School and IH Montevideo London Institute, where he also taught Translation Theory and Stylistics.
Ronald Widd's experience has allowed him to contribute to the local business sector as well as schools and colleges as a language and educational advisor. His work ranged from enhancing communications for companies as Securitas to working in the advertising campaign of new graphics companies such as 3DIP.
He has worked widely translating and interpreting in Spain, Britain, the USA, where he worked as court translator, and Uruguay where he teaches linguistics to translators and many national publications are translated into English and published under his name every year.
Patricia Antuna-Widd dubbing work is well known in Uruguay. Her experience in Radio and television production and advertising makes her impressive linguistic skills in both languages even more outstanding and valuable.
She contributed with countless voiceovers in Spanish and in English over the years, as well as singing for radio and TV commercials..
Her translation work is also impressive having work as a translator and teacher for prestigious law firms and companies, both locally and abroad.
Patricia has more than 10 years’ experience teaching English and designing syllabi as well as appearing in lectures and presentations. She holds a degree from the University of London as well as a posgraduate certificate in Learning Difficulties. She currently reads Literature at Universidad de la República while doing a masters degree in Cinema and TV Direction and Production.
Walter Antuna has worked in the advertising campaigns for many large national and international companies in Uruguay. These include Papas Chips (Pepsico), DHL, Western Union, AT&T Easylink and Bayer but to name a few. He has won several prestigious national awards for his musical compositions for theatre and cinema, particularly for Tristan e Isolda winning him the Florencio. Apart from the sound tracks and many jingles Mr Antuna has worked extensively in dubbing for cinema and television.
He has worked in the development of video games for Dirección de Loterías y Quinielas, the Uruguayan National Lottery, and has lately stepped closer to academia working together with the ORT University in developing the sound for Video games and lending his expertise as part of Widd Professional English.
Luego de haberse desempeñado como Director de Doblaje en Venezuela por diez años, Luis Otero trabajó en la República Argentina para empresas líderes en el doblaje y producción de audio, como son Palmera Records, Estudios Inaudito, CIVISA e Ideas del Sur, entre otras. Como docente, ha dictado cursos y talleres de Español Neutro y Doblaje en Argentina y Uruguay. Actualmente enseña post producción de audio en la Universidad ORT, es Director de Doblaje para la programación de la BBC en Canal Encuentro (Argentina) y dicta cursos introductorios y avanzados de Español Neutro y Doblaje en WIDD Professional English.
Guillermo Vicens has worked as a freelance translator for many years.
He has subtitled many films and television series for many of the best known companies. More recently he has been working almost exclusively for SONY Television. His film work includes translating and subtitling A man called Peter, Charlie Chan at the circus, Culpepper, David & Bathsheba, Golden earrings, Pretty poison, Romancing the stone, Sherlock's smarter brother, The Devil is a woman, Transamerica and Two flags West, among others.
Some of the television series he has translated are That 70s Show, Las Vegas, Bones, Fantasy Island, Hill Street Blues, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Murder she wrote, Kyle and Samantha Who.
Pilar has been a Teacher of English as a Second Language since 2002. She is also a lawyer with a posgraduate certificarte in Civil Law. She has worked for presitigous local law firms and language schools, where she has taught both General and Legal English to young adults and adults.
Lyliam has 14,475 “official” (signed) translations in her files and a great number of ordinary translations on a wide variety of subjects, including legal documents, by-laws, licence agreements, bills, laws, regulations, decrees, court decisions, public tenders, annual reports for shareholders meetings, trademark registrations, oppositions and appeals, particularly translations of patent specifications, descriptions of pharmaceutical processes and products, descriptions of mechanical devices and technical manuals.
She has also translated into Spanish two books: Male and Female (El hombre y la mujer) by Margaret Mead, for Compañía General Fabril Editora S.A., Buenos Aires, (social anthropology) and The Art of Making Dances (El arte de crear danzas), by Doris Humphrey, for EUDEBA (Editorial Universitaria de Buenos Aires)
She has good working knowledge of French and Portuguese and can translate from these languages into Spanish or English and has taught American Literature, Lower Cambridge and Proficiency groups for 17 years.
